If you watch Iron Man and The Dark Knight, which by the way are the two latest movies featuring classic comic book heroes now showing on the big screens in the year 2008, the two are head to head in a bout. But this is not just a battle will not be between hits from their super powers, but those from the box offices of the international movie industry.

Contrasts: Both heroes actually came from comic books, Iron Man from Marvel and Batman from DC. While they were not the first creations in their fields, they definitely turned out to be original and became popular in their own respects, having their own fare share of priceless comic editions, action figures and TV shows. With respect to their origins, Batman is multi-millionaire Bruce Wayne who owns Wayne Industries, while Iron Man is Industrialist Tony Stark of Stark Enterprises, both having the inherited millions to come up with their own cool hiding spots (The Bat Cave and Science Lab, respectively) and keep their identities secret. It is also important to not that both Batman and Iron Man have no inherent supernatural abilities. They both rely on science and gadgets to do their thing.

In the movie The Dark Knight, being a sequel, is much too busy picking up where Batman Begins left off, moving to reveal the answer behind the vigilante status of Batman and the criminal mind of one of his arch nemeses, the Joker. If you watch Iron Man, the movie actually starts off from the beginning, showing the man behind the suit more than the hero himself.

Then again, one can never be better than the other. With two highly respectable icons of the cartoon industry come to life in modern film, the choice to watch can only be left to you, the viewer.
