We have all grown up with images of Popeye the Sailor Man. All he needed to do to become strong, really strong, was to eat spinach. The story of Popeye has been used by many generations of mothers to get their children to eat this most unpopular of vegetables. Leaving the comic book exaggeration aside, there is no doubt that spinach is good for the body. Many of us also know that the reason why it is good is because it contains iron. But our knowledge stops there. Few of us know why iron is not just good but essential for the growth and health of the body.
We also know that proteins are essential for the body. They give us energy. Sportsmen consume high protein diets, like pasta, especially before a sporting event. Two staples needed for the body, iron and proteins. But how many of us know the close connection between the two and how they function and interact to contribute to our physical well being. Lets have a look.
The human body needs iron to make hemoglobin and []tagmyoglobin[/tag]. These are proteins that carry oxygen through the body. Food, water and air are the essentials of life. You can live a few days without food or water, but not even 5 minutes without air. And the part of air that you body needs is oxygen. Hemoglobin is found in the blood and myoglobin is in the muscles. Iron is also needed for the muscle building and regeneration process. Free iron is not good for the body as it assists in the formation of disease causing free radicals. Organisms therefore store the iron as ferritin which is bound to various tissues and is thus controlled by the body. The largest concentration of ferritin bound iron is found the liver, the spleen and bone marrow. The body uses up iron and it needs to be constantly replaced through a proper diet. The liver has the ability to store some excess iron which is available to the body to make up for a temporary shortage.

“If you’re a die hard Iron Man fan and just cannot wait for the movie Ironman 2 to arrive in theaters, just wait ’till you hear about this: Two lucky (and presumably obscenely wealthy) fans will be having the time of their lives when they get to personally attend the premier of the movie together with the lady of the hour, Scarlett Johanssen, who plays Tony Stark’s secretary in the new movie, Natasha Romanoff, AKA the Black Widow. “How do I get those tickets?” You ask? “I simply must have them”, you say? Well I’m sorry to have to tell you that you are too late. The tickets were made available for auction as a way to raise money for charity. Unfortunately for all you fans who wanted a chance, the auction ended back on September 24, 2009. Read the rest of this entry »

“A search on Google for Ironman games brought up lots of material. For example, there are the official games based on the movie where you can don the Iron Man suit and actually go flying around saving the world from bad guys. You can use the suit to shoot fire, missiles and repulsor beams just like in the movie and of course you can fly and hover. Similarly to the movie, the game also has a limited power supply and if you use it up, you die. Okay, but for those who want something a little bit different, I actually found an Iron Man dress up game.
Believe it or not, you can actually redress Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man himself in any way that you like. You will be able to actually change the color and design of the suit that the Iron Man wears. The suit comes in a variety of colors and with a variety of different types of weapons built in, presumably based on knowledge gleaned from the various iterations of the suit in the original Marvel comics (did you know that in the comics, Iron Man is able to carry his suit inside of a briefcase – now that’s some job of miniaturization, eh?).
